Cross Creek Hospital’s Children’s Program is an optimal treatment environment for boys and girls ages 5 to 12 who have been experiencing symptoms of various acute mental health disorders.
Our Children’s Program provides comprehensive inpatient treatment, personalized according to the unique needs of each young person who heals with us. Care is provided by teams of compassionate professionals who have specific experience working with children and families.
Admission into the Cross Creek Hospital Children’s Program is determined on a case-by-case basis. Common challenges that prompt parents to bring their children to our hospital in Austin, TX, include anxiety, depression, aggression, impulsivity, and self-injurious behaviors.
The duration of your child’s time in our care will be determined by his or her needs and progress.
Types of Therapy
Following a thorough assessment to ensure that we have identified and are prepared to treat the issues that have been preventing your child from experiencing an improved quality of life, we will work with you to develop and deliver a personalized course of treatment.
That plan may include the following forms of therapy:
Individual therapy: One-on-one sessions may be scheduled as needed throughout your son or daughter’s time in our program.
Family therapy: Family therapy sessions are also typically held once per week throughout a child’s time in our Children’s Program, but this frequency can be adjusted according to your preferences and the needs of your child. During family therapy sessions, you and your child will receive guidance and feedback from an experienced master’s level clinician.
Group therapy: Groups are held multiple times each day in our Children’s Program. Common types of groups that are incorporated into inpatient programming for children include education groups, process, groups, psychotherapy groups, and recreational groups. Depending upon the type of group, it may be led by a master’s level clinician, recreational therapist, registered nurse (RN), mental health technician, recreational therapist, or other experts.
In addition to comprehensive therapeutic support, your child may also receive medical services during his or her time in our Children’s Program. In addition to a physical exam and medical history assessment that all children complete prior to starting our inpatient program. Children may also receive medication management services from members of our nursing and pharmacy staff.
The members of your child’s treatment team will, of course, remain in close communication with you to ensure that you are aware of and grant your approval for all medical services that your child receives while he is in our care.
No two days are identical in our Children’s Program, but we endeavor to provide a predictable and structured schedule for the benefit of the young people who are healing at Cross Creek Hospital.
